Catriona Morrison and Nicholas Ward have been included in the 2012 Elite Multisport Squad, a programme administered by British Triathlon every year.

With a squad made up of 11 athletes, the programme is aimed at supporting British triathletes who have the potential to stand out at ITU events and other duathlons and long distance triathlons, so that they can enter the World Championships.

Catriona Morrison, winner at Ironman Arizona and Duathlon World Champion in 2010, among other great achievements, and Nicholas Ward, who showed his progress recording a top-15 finish at last year’s ITU Long Distance Triathlon World Championships, will be members of the professional long distance triathlon squad, alongside remarkable British triathlete Mark Threlfall, while reigning Duathlon World Champion Katie Hewison will be part of the duathlon professional squad.

This British Triathlon initiative helps many triathletes achieve their goals. In fact, Nicholas Ward joined the programme last year and this brought him to the World Championships. ‘I’m happy because this makes things easier throughout the season. Last year I competed in the World Championships and the Long Distance Triathlon European Championships,’ says Nicholas, who is now in Lanzarote, preparing the upcoming races.
